Rishikesh to Barkot
Along the Yamuna valley, about 7 hours.

Day 2, Yamunotri
Yamunotri darshan
Drive to Janki Chatti, 6 km trek up, back to Barkot.

Barkot to Uttarkashi
Evening aarti at Kashi Vishwanath.

Day 4, Gangotri
Gangotri darshan
Up the Bhagirathi to the temple town and back.

Uttarkashi to Guptkashi
The longest drive, via Tehri lake.

Day 6, Kedarnath
Trek to Kedarnath
16 km from Gaurikund, or pony, palki or helicopter.

Darshan, down to Guptkashi
Early morning darshan, then the trek down.

Day 8, Badrinath
Guptkashi to Badrinath
Via Chopta and Joshimath, evening darshan.

Mana village, on to Rudraprayag
India's last village before Tibet, then downhill.

Back to Rishikesh
Past Devprayag, where the Ganga begins.

Before you go
E-registration is mandatory for all four dhams, so carry the photo ID you registered with. Pack warm layers even in May: nights at the shrines drop close to freezing.
Char Dham questions
Do I need to register for the Char Dham Yatra?
Yes. Biometric e-registration is mandatory for all four dhams. We handle it as part of your trip; you just need a valid photo ID.
When is the best time to go?
The yatra runs from late April to early November. May–June and September–October are the most comfortable, avoiding the peak monsoon.
Can I do Kedarnath without trekking?
Yes. Ponies and palkis run from Gaurikund, and helicopters fly from Phata and Guptkashi. Helicopter seats sell out early.
Can I do just two dhams?
Yes. Do Dham (Kedarnath and Badrinath) takes 5–6 days from Rishikesh.
